music on linux: spotify
if you dont have time to back up and distrobute your own mp3s on your lan, theres always spotify. it works on deb/fed using snap, which is easy to install through your package manager (try dnf -y install snapd)
after snapd is installed, do a simple snap install spotify and it should get you the current, official spotify client from snapd
you need to register an account but ad supported spotify is free, meaning you can listen to the entire spotify database of music, including podcasts (it helps) and latest singles, but there are occassional ads, the thing is most of the music auto selected sucks, and usenet has a way better portfolio of music
premium is 12$/mo and features higher quality audio and no commercials, but the free client is just good enough to listen to music and podcasts, and it works on most linux distributions. i couldnt get it working on freebsd, i tried using debootstrap and linux.ko to emulate linux, but i couldnt get it working
good for music on the spot, and theres pretty much every published song since about 1940 on there, just gotta search. think of it as linux' itunes!
well, enjoy, next article is getting hdmi out to work on linux
