mozilla thunderbird: an awesome email client

i feel mozilla thunderbird is probably one of the best email clients for linux/bsd, probably even unices if you want to port them

look at the competitors, evolution and kmail are super buggy and are run by a smaller community of programmer. oauth2 i believe its called is buggy, and yeah, theyre not that great of an email client when you want to use google to login, which i feel is a pretty awesome thing.

interface wise, thunderbird wins hand down. kmail/claws/evolution look dated, and their interface doesnt follow the same guidelines as thunderbird. also thunderbird looks like a free, unix class email client, that resembles outlook, but more cartoony opposed to whatever the hell microsoft outlook looks like, id compare it to looking at crystal meth

thunderbird supports both outlook and gmail connections; my gmail and community college email works fine. it takes a while to download the 100k+ emails i have on my gmail, and within seconds of a push message from an email server, the incoming email is downloaded to my hard drive and is displayed on my email client

just like evolution, thunderbird has calendar support, and since its open source you can add front end stuff for your own calendar apps. i feel that calendars are probably the most important part of having a ldap/domain based email adddress, where you can set events for real life and have them appear on your desktop or smart device, including smart home stuff, when its time for the appt, fucking, damned zyprexa =/

so we have outlook/ms domain support, gmail support, most colleges use either ms or google technology for email, so you have your school stuff in your email, your personal and work stuff, a calendar, i think chat support works between two email addresses using some kind of protocl, and a great interface, theres an address book, i think theres a built in spam filter, but yeah, i get a ton of spam on my personal email i havent fitered yet, but yeah, i feel thunderbird should and is the defacto email client for atleast fedora42

happy emailing,
