all you need to do is hold and tap an icon and tap 'require face id', it works on ios 26 but im pretty sure previous versions of ios/ipad have it.

save the long article, but you can enable face id for apps that dont support it. we're not talking about the authencation, aka user/pass part, we're talking about being able to open the app in general, meaning if you have like, a usenet client, you can make sure no one reads your save articles and posts, or you can password protect banking, the gmail app, or even the including mail.app in ios/ipad
